How the Ipamorelin calculator works
Lyophilized (freeze-dried) powder in a sealed vial, labelled in milligrams. The quick-fill buttons in the calculator are the vial sizes Ipamorelin is commonly labelled in (2 mg, 5 mg and 10 mg). If yours is different, type it in.
Amounts of Ipamorelin are usually written in micrograms (mcg), so the calculator opens in mcg.
Ipamorelin is also sold in blend vials together with CJC-1295. A blend label gives the combined total, so enter only the milligrams of the single compound you are converting.

Ipamorelin concentration table
Each labelled vial size at the same three round water volumes used across this site. It shows how the arithmetic behaves and is not a suggestion of what to use.
| Vial | Water added | Concentration | Each mark holds |
|---|---|---|---|
| 2 mg vial | 1 mL | 2 mg/mL | 20 mcg per unit |
| 2 mg vial | 2 mL | 1 mg/mL | 10 mcg per unit |
| 2 mg vial | 3 mL | 0.67 mg/mL | 6.7 mcg per unit |
| 5 mg vial | 1 mL | 5 mg/mL | 50 mcg per unit |
| 5 mg vial | 2 mL | 2.5 mg/mL | 25 mcg per unit |
| 5 mg vial | 3 mL | 1.67 mg/mL | 16.7 mcg per unit |
| 10 mg vial | 1 mL | 10 mg/mL | 100 mcg per unit |
| 10 mg vial | 2 mL | 5 mg/mL | 50 mcg per unit |
| 10 mg vial | 3 mL | 3.33 mg/mL | 33.3 mcg per unit |
Every row for a given vial holds the same total. To compare volumes for a specific reading, use the BAC water calculator.
The formula, step by step
The “Try example numbers” button uses one fixed rule on every page: the smallest labelled vial, 2 mL of water, and whatever amount lands on the 10-unit mark. The amount is a by-product of that rule and not a typical or suggested Ipamorelin dose.
- Concentration: 2 mg ÷ 2 mL = 1 mg/mL.
- The 10-unit mark is 10 ÷ 100 = 0.1 mL, which holds 0.1 × 1 = 0.1 mg (100 mcg).
- Run it forwards to check: 0.1 mg ÷ 1 mg/mL = 0.1 mL, and 0.1 × 100 = 10 units.
Ipamorelin: general reference
General educational reference for research purposes only. None of it is a recommendation, none of it is medical advice, and none of it is used by the calculator, which works only on the numbers you enter.
Ipamorelin is a synthetic peptide of five amino acids that acts on the ghrelin (growth hormone secretagogue) receptor. It was developed by Novo Nordisk in the 1990s and was later studied in clinical trials for bowel recovery after surgery, but it was never approved.
Researchers at Novo Nordisk described ipamorelin in 1998 and called it the first selective growth hormone secretagogue, because in their experiments its effect was largely limited to growth hormone release.
In the first human study, growth hormone levels peaked about 40 minutes after an intravenous infusion and were back to baseline within roughly six hours.
The Swiss company Helsinn later tested ipamorelin in hospital patients recovering from bowel surgery. In a phase 2 trial of 117 patients it did no better than placebo on any endpoint, and development stopped.
- Class
- Synthetic pentapeptide, ghrelin-receptor agonist
- Group
- Growth hormone and IGF-1 axis
- Also known as
- NNC 26-0161
- Molecular weight
- About 712 Da
- Half-life
- About 2 hours. A pharmacokinetic study in healthy volunteers (Gobburu et al., 1999) reported a terminal half-life of about 2 hours after an intravenous infusion.
- Regulatory status
- Not approved as a medicine. Ipamorelin is not approved as a medicine by the FDA, the EMA or any other major regulator. Its position in US pharmacy compounding has changed since 2023 and remains under FDA review, so check the FDA’s current bulk drug substances lists for the present status.
- Status in sport
- Prohibited at all times under the WADA Prohibited List (section S2), where it is named among the growth hormone secretagogues.
- Labelled vial sizes
- 2 mg, 5 mg and 10 mg
Arithmetic slips to watch for with Ipamorelin
A blend vial is two compounds in one
A vial labelled 10 mg that holds 5 mg of ipamorelin and 5 mg of CJC-1295 has an ipamorelin concentration based on 5 mg, not 10. Entering the combined total doubles the concentration and halves the result. Use the milligrams of the one compound you are converting.
Three vial sizes, three concentrations
With the same 2 mL of water, a 2 mg vial is 1 mg/mL (10 mcg per unit), a 5 mg vial is 2.5 mg/mL (25 mcg per unit) and a 10 mg vial is 5 mg/mL (50 mcg per unit). Recalculate whenever the vial size changes.
2 mg is 2,000 mcg
The label is in milligrams and amounts are usually written in micrograms, so every calculation crosses that boundary. The smallest common vial makes it easy to sanity-check: 2 mg is 2,000 mcg. An amount typed in the wrong unit is out by 1,000×, and the calculator flags anything larger than the whole vial.
What this page does not do
The calculator performs mathematical conversions only. It does not recommend, suggest or verify any Ipamorelin dose or schedule, it does not say how much water to add, and it does not say what Ipamorelin is for, whether it is safe, or whether it is legal where you live. It is not medical advice, diagnosis or treatment, and Peptrack does not sell, supply or endorse any substance.
